Heartwarming Holiday Story: Why SERVPRO Is Proud to Support the Hockessin Area Communities
So many different things go into defining the elusive concept of community. Inspiration can be found even in the face of catastrophic damage, as beautifully expressed by a family who battled through personal disaster to make sure a treasured Christmas tradition continued. The strength of our neighbors in the face of extreme adversity is why we feel privileged to be part of fire damage victims’ recovery stories.
A Treasured Tradition Sustained
Despite a severe fire near Hockessin, a West Caln Township couple prioritized their 23-year-strong celebration of the season. During the span of nearly a quarter-century, the stunning light display of holiday cheer became part of many others’ yearly Christmas observance. Over 32,000 lights create a joyful and magical atmosphere, a shining example of why our area boasts a welcoming and close-knit sense of community. Just days before Christmas, a fire tore through the family’s home, threatening to snuff out this year’s exhibition.
Determination and Commitment Denies Disaster
Although the blaze displaced the Chester County couple for up to six months, they refused to give up their yearly labor of love and fellowship. Children worried about Santa and families fearing loss of a tradition were delighted to find the jolly fellow, and Mrs. Claus still waited for their visit, sparkling lights and illuminated characters, making everything festive and bright. The opportunity arose for our team to support this inspirational couple’s commitment, why SERVPRO was honored to help supply the power to turn on the lights.
Generator-Powered Preservation of Tradition: Making New Memories
The coming together of community members under the glow of 26,000 of the 32,000 lights was made possible through modern electrical technology. Our inventory of powerful generators helped the seasonal show go on, but the dedication of the homeowners provided the fundamental sense of hope and perseverance. This example of the strength of individuals thriving despite adversity is why SERVPRO is humbled and honored to help restore this highly-anticipated tradition.
Generator power is just one of the ways we help uplift customers and the community, why SERVPRO of Hockessin / Elsmere is privileged to be in the restoration business. Call (302) 992-0104 when disaster strikes. We would love to join in your recovery.
